Sharing the Joy of Reading with an African Child
for 25 years

25 years and counting!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt is hard to imagine our beginning more than 25 years ago – six children reading under a tree in our garden – and where we have come. The initial steps were small ones and as we found our footing, they have became bolder and more ambitious.

The strength of our project lies in the dedication and remarkable stamina of our library staff, the support we receive from local government, the guidance from our boards, and the generosity of our donors.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2015. For that occasion we collected messages from many individuals involved with our project. I hope the following 24 photo boxes (and their links, including two videos) convey the exciting scope of our outreach.

In closing, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to each person who has added their own grace and commitment to make this possible, especially to my parents, Beth and Gordon Lennard, who provided their steadfast support, and to my husband, John, and our children – Kaitlan, Sophie, Alastair, Akosua – who have given me permission to follow my dreams.
