Sharing the Joy of Reading with an African Child
for 25 years

Volunteering in Ghana

Nelly Amenyogbe from Vancouver volunteered in Goi and organized an Olympic event (she is also an athlete!).

OCLF welcomes volunteers to our libraries, both in and outside of Accra.  They bring their own skills and enrich library programs. Our libraries are busy places with activities besides reading. Experience with children is an asset and it is helpful to come with ideas – reading activities, educational games, crafts, music or sports – to share with library members. Knowledge of teaching adults how to read is useful.

Here are reflections from past volunteers.

In 2010, Kay Harrell of Kinston, North Carolina, recorded her 2006 experience with a video: Volunteer’s experience with Osu Children’s Library Fund
